Do An Open House With Me! ๐Ÿ ๐Ÿชง

Hello! Long time no see, I’m finally getting around to writing about my weekly topic for the blog. I feel like I can never effectively manage my time well enough, but I also understand there’s some things I can’t control as well. Take this open house for an example! ๐Ÿ ๐Ÿชง

I had the privilege of hosting an open house this weekend, and it’s not often that I take them. Usually it’s because my obsession of being over-prepared, which never works out in my favor because I don’t manage my time effectively. โฐ๐Ÿ˜‚

But I’m learning the ropes and adapting as I go. I got to the location of the property early enough to set up, but sometimes people come to these events earlier then the time posted (which is okay!) and creates this pressure to rush and get things out and not set the way I envisioned it. But I can’t control who shows up, I can only adjust as I go which is exactly what I did.๐Ÿ˜ฎโ€๐Ÿ’จ๐Ÿ’ญ

The funny thing about open houses is the traffic; it can either be a ghost town or the crowds never stop coming in. This weekend happened to be busy, which is great considering this was the first one for this particular property. It was received very well, and there were lots of interested buyers. I still had a good time, and it was nice to crack out the signs and refresh my brain on the whole process. ๐Ÿ˜Œ๐Ÿง

Hey everyone, Happy Friday! We’re finally getting some warmer weather in Maryland and it’s a nice change of pace. Last week I mentioned that I wanted to premiere more of my real estate side on the blog so we’re going to be talking about a segment that I do every week called Monday Mornings with Makaila! โ˜€๏ธ๐Ÿ“Š

I’m sure most of you reading this already know about the segment since I promote it every Monday Morning. The main purpose of why I started MMwM was to educate people more about the unknowns in real estate, while informing them of how it pertains to them as a consumer. Real estate has so much terminology, and it’s words you don’t hear often enough for it to stick with you which makes it very easy to get overwhelmed. ๐Ÿคฏ๐Ÿ—ฏ๏ธ

Each week I go over a topic and cover some FAQs about them. I also cover the current mortgage rates and find different ways to get my audience to engage with me and my content. Recently, I’ve been hitting a plateau, as I’m not really sure how to make them more engaging to my audience. I got some really great advice from a few of you guys and I’m going to try them out for this week’s topic!

The biggest takeaway from this whole experience is to never give up on the idea, I’ve taken breaks from MMwM and have also made changes, but I have never abandoned the idea completely. It’s still very much a work in progress, but I really the the purpose of the concept and I hope to continue refining it to make it even better! ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ‘

Experimental Dish ๐Ÿงช๐Ÿฅฃ

 Hiii Everyone! So happy to be writing to you guys, and even happier for you to be reading it. ๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿ˜ƒ

I always look forward to making a blog post every week; I really feel like it humanizes me and allows you guys to get to know who I am outside of the whole real estate business. Lately, I’ve been feeling so out of whack with my schedule. So many changes are happening and even more so with stepping out of my comfort zone with cold calling and active prospecting. ๐Ÿ˜ฉ๐Ÿ“ž

I managed to make myself a meal prep this week, but it’s safe to say that this was a combination that I have not thought of before. Sometimes I like to get creative and experiment with the “what ifs?” I had some coconut crusted flounder in my freezer, along with some Caribbean-style veggies that shared a sweet and savory taste. I paired them with some jasmine rice and made an amazing dish that fits my lifestyle choices.

I absolutely love when things work out and become better than expected! Sometimes you just have to try, you wont know until you give it a chance. I hope you’re loving the content I’ve been putting out so far, but I’m curious to know if you want to see some more of my real estate side? I’m leaning towards showing you guys some of the things I do, whether it’s in the office on desk duty, or behind the scenes of my Monday Mornings segments. ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿ’ฌ

Workout Split ๐Ÿ‹๏ธโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ’ช

Hey Y’all! Happy Wednesday, hope your week has had a decent start. Last week, we focused more on our mental health, and now we’re going to highlight more about our physical health this week.

I try to get in at least three days worth of workouts that last anywhere from 1-2 hours depending on what my situation is for the week. Believe it or not, there are so many different factors that play into whether or not you will have a good workout. Things like your energy level, your discipline, and your time management are crucial to getting things done in the gym. โฑ๏ธ๐Ÿ”‹

Fortunately, my other job allows me to work in an establishment where it is not hard to stay disciplined. I get so inspired by everyone’s self-journey, that it motivates me to continue mine. I also have the convenience of already being at a gym! So I always bring a gym bag to work with me, and just change when I get out of work. ๐ŸŽ’๐Ÿคฉ

The best way to tackle your time management is to split your workouts. Recently I have been doing this by muscle groups:

– Monday: arms, abs, shoulders ๐Ÿ‹๏ธโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ’ช

– Tuesday: legs, glutes ๐Ÿฆต๐Ÿ‘

– Thursday: back, chest ๐Ÿซ๐Ÿซ€

Now this is always subject to change; this week in particular, I was not able to workout yesterday due to some things I had to take care of at home. So tomorrow, I will have to improvise and readjust. Sometimes this might be working out on a day I don’t usually plan for, or I might just change up what the workout is for the day. The biggest takeaway here is to listen to your body and do what works the best for it (where you’re seeing the results). I try to incorporate cardio into every workout as well.

Unfortunately, this does come with a negative trade-off, in my case it’s a caffeine addiction. I love a good Celsius Cherry Cola, but lately I’ve been leaning into the ghost flavors and sometimes bucked up too. I need something to fuel the fire, and an energy drink usually does the trick after an 8-hour shift. ๐Ÿชซโค๏ธโ€๐Ÿ”ฅ

Please do not be intimidated to get started! I was once there, and I was terrified to go to a gym and have people see me not at my best. We all have our own journeys, and every body is different; what works for me, may not work for you and vice versa. Don’t wait to get started, Day 1 is today. Don’t wait until the first day of the month, or the first day of the week. You decide when your first day is!

Mental Health Day ๐Ÿง โค๏ธโ€๐Ÿฉน

On Wednesday, I made the executive decision to take my own advice and give myself a mental health day. My mind is constantly on the move, which makes it hard to do everything simultaneously. I’m one of those people who feel organized when my environment is organized so I took it upon myself to get my place back in shape! ๐Ÿ›‹๏ธโ˜‘๏ธ

I also took the time to do things that I enjoy, like finally building this Lego set that I’ve had since Christmas. Of course you can’t forget meal prepping as well. Life gets so busy sometimes, so I decided to slow down and take things more at my pace this week. While it wasn’t productive from a business standpoint, it was from an organization outlook. ๐Ÿงบ๐Ÿงน

Update: I feel so at peace to have taken some time away to do the things I’ve been holding off and I plan on letting that time carry into this weekend and give myself a break from real estate. Building a business isn’t easy, but everyone deserves a break. I’m celebrating the small wins this week; I cleaned my place, had a good workout week, and I’m providing myself with self-care for the remainder of my time. ๐Ÿง˜โ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ‹๏ธโ€โ™€๏ธ

Never forget to listen to your mind. If you need a break, take one!

A Week in Review ๐Ÿง๐Ÿ—“๏ธ

Whew! What a week it has been, we’re finally in the homestretch. It’s been really busy, but also really productive. I try my best to keep my jobs separate from one another, but sometimes you can’t predict how your days go. This week I was doing anything and everything.

I’ve been trying to hold myself more accountable and the way I’ve been doing that is through using a planner. Not only does it keep me on my toes, it also helps by making my days less hectic. There’s a lot of ideas flowing and gears turning, and my planner is the reason as to why my great ideas can keep coming! โš™๏ธ๐Ÿ’ก

Monday’s and Tuesday’s consist of working my other job and getting a workout in after my shift. I can conveniently change into my workout clothes as soon as I’m off the clock. So I spend most of my time there.

Wednesday’s and Friday’s are my dedicated office days. I like to separate my work and focus on solely real estate. By separating my days, I can have more of a creative-flow state when building my business (p.s. I have some really great things coming ๐Ÿ˜„).

Now Thursday is usually another work/workout day. But this week in particular, that wasn’t the case. I had a showing that I had to attend after my shift so I grabbed my gym bag and hurried on home to frantically change into my new quarter zip that features my team’s name and logo! Typically I dress to impress, but in this case I needed something quick and low maintenance. This did the job beautifully, and I was really happy with how they turned out. ๐Ÿ˜โœจ

I do spend my Saturday’s in the office as well, but that’s to be on desk duty. Don’t worry, I do rest. ๐Ÿ˜‚ I make Sunday’s my dedicated rest days to recover and repeat the week. I think my work/life balance is good, but it can definitely be better. You can never truly predict how your days are going to go, but it’s about how you adapt to the changes that can make or break it for you! Keep rolling with the punches; what you put in, is what you’ll get back! ๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿ‘

For When I Don’t Have Time โŒš๐Ÿ˜จ

Life – it can get crazy sometimes and time can getter the better of you. I try to stay organized when I can, but even I have my moments where I lose track of time management. Know that you’re not alone, which is why I wanted to reassure you to have your shortcuts when necessary to bring you back on track. ๐Ÿ›ค๏ธโฐ

One of the ways I take shortcuts is through my meals. Sometimes I don’t have the availability to meal prep the way I want to and I need to eat, so I have my shortcut; microwaveable meals. Now before you go all weird on me and say that they’re gross or unhealthy, you just need to be on the lookout for the right one.

I have this meal from Aldi that I love to use! I might be bias, but Aldi really has some hidden gems. It has whole grains, lots of protein, and actually tastes pretty good. I like to add spicy sweet chili quest chips (my absolute fav) for the extra crunch and added protein. Yesterday, this was an absolute lifesaver for me since I had to work my other job. ๐Ÿ’Ž๐Ÿ›Ÿ

Don’t feel guilty if you fall out of a routine, it’s normal! It’s a matter of whether or not that you have the resilience to get back in there that counts. Strive to stay motivated, disciplined, and inspired!

Field Trip ๐ŸšŒ๐Ÿ“

Hi Guys! Happy Wednesday, hope everyone is doing well.

I was able to be a part of a super cool opportunity; Today our office held a sales meeting with D.R. Horton at Ridgley’s Reserve. The site we visited was in Joppa which is located in Harford County Maryland. Our hosts were kind enough to serve us brunch, and I may or may not have had a mimosa.๐Ÿคญ๐Ÿฅ‚

I was able to get a glimpse into their model homes, both detached homes and townhouses. I think the staging was done really well, especially in the townhome. I believe their homes are really great for first-time home buyers. They build fairly quickly, so you could get in there pretty fast.

I think it was a lovely neighborhood; plenty of space to take walks. They actually had a on-site playground which I loved for the sake of the kiddos. I would really like to film some video tours of the homes; The builders have extended their arms wide open for an invitation to do so. Stay tuned for my follow-up there as I’m really excited to get that scheduled! ๐Ÿ“น๐Ÿ˜‰

I have to work on my videography skills a little bit, but I think practice makes perfect and what better way to practice than to tour these model homes! I’m thinking about doing a voiceover for them. ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿ’ญCan’t wait to have some fun with this!

Meal Prep Monday

 Meal prepping is an absolute must for me. Usually I make two meals at once; One for lunch and one for dinner, but lately it’s been hard to make time to do so. Right now I’ve been making my meals as needed to get through the week. ๐Ÿ˜‚

I know one thing is for certain, if I’m meal prepping, taco bowls will always be in my rotation. These are so good, so filling, and so easy to make! You really only need a ground meat of your choice, rice, veggies, and what ever toppings suit your fancy. ๐ŸŒฎ๐Ÿฅฃ

I start by pan-frying my veggies, making sure they’re thawed out enough before I put my meat in. Now you can totally prep your own veggies if you prefer them fresh, me however, I’m all about convenience so I buy a frozen bag of them. Same thing with the rice; If you prefer to cook it, that’s totally okay! I don’t notice a difference in taste and it’s a lot quicker in my opinion. 

Once my veggies are thawed, I put in my ground meat of choice. As I’ve mentioned before, eating more mindfully consists of substitutions. I personally use ground turkey, but feel free to use the meat of your choice. I think as long as you season it right, it tastes exactly the same. ๐Ÿ˜‰๐ŸŒถ๏ธ

I like to season my meat before its fully cooked and after (I call this my pre and post season). Once everything is all done, I put my rice into a bowl first, followed by my meat and veggie mixture and I put toppings of my choice to serve and enjoy! You can’t go wrong with sour cream and cheese (I use greek yogurt instead of sour cream as a high protein option and it’s amazing). I also like to top it off with a sauce of my choice.

Lately I’ve been loving this chipotle hot sauce from tabasco, it’s super good. The Chipotle closest to where I live started putting it out to top their food with and I tried it out, let’s just say they low-key put me on. But Taco Bell mild sauce is always a classic and works great as well.

You Must Try These!

Despite my days being hectic, I find ways to fuel my body and keep myself going. This happened to be yesterday’s selection of goodies and I thought to myself, what better way to introduce myself than to give you a list of my favorites!

I’ve been loving these protein pretzels from my other job recently, they just came out with chili lime and cinnamon bun flavors! SOO yummy. Fun fact about me, I’ve lost over 75 lbs in the span of a year and a half. Part of the way that I did this was eating more mindfully. ๐Ÿ‹โ€๐ŸŸฉ๐ŸŒถ๏ธ

Don’t deprive yourself from the things you love, instead eat with the intention of reducing your sugar, increasing your protein, and substitute what you can. I love some of the sauces I eat too much to let them go, and that’s totally okay! I still allow them in what I eat and I substitute what I can in exchange. 

I’m an energy drink girly, through and through. I love a good caffeinated push as it’s an absolute essential when working out. I don’t usually drink Alani, they taste amazing, but don’t give me the boost that I need. I just tried their Strawberry Sunrise flavor and it’s amazing! I use Alani for my office days and stick to Ghost or Celsius for my workouts.๐Ÿ“โ˜€๏ธ
